Artist Spotlight - Chauncey and Coco

Meet San Antonio-based artist, Mehek, she is one half of the sister team that makes up Chauncey and Coco. They create handmade jewelry and when you #ShopFeliz you are supporting local artists just like them.

Tell us a little more about yourself and your artwork:

I create original design small batch jewelry and decor with my rad younger sister. As self taught artists, we create products that serve as an extension of our inspiration drawn from modern art and personal experiences, while giving back as much as we can along the way.

When did you begin creating art?

Honestly. not steadily until I was about 20 years old. I’ve always taken art history classes and spent weekends at museums since I was a kid, but didn’t actually pick up a paintbrush until the end of college.

Tell us about any influences, if any:

Travel, museums, fierce women, being madly in love

Tell us something interesting in your life (achievements, funny story, places travelled, etc.):

I recently got the chance to speak with one of my all time favorite design icons, he was so much nicer than expected and gave the best advice.

What plans do you have for the future of your art?

We’re planning to expand our stationary line next year!

Do you have any good advice for emerging artists?

Try and find a group of fellow artists you can relate to and don’t be afraid to ask them for help
